I can't believe how fast this year passed by so far, I think I am not taking full advantage of each day as I should in order to make it all worthy. I am in my last year of high school, I will remember it forever, and I want to make the best of it, but I think I am just wasting my days doing always the same.
Anyway, I don't know what that rambling was all about, I just wanted to comment on a recent musical discovery of mine, three Uruguayan rock bands. I normally wouldn't listen to music in Spanish, but I guess I was wrong about them. I've been introduced to them by different people.
Firstly, El Cuarteto de Nos
, probably my favourite one of the three I am going to mention. My dad listened to one of their songs on the radio last year and became addicted to them. He went to a couple of their concerts (one of which was held really close to where I live), but I refused to like their music. Not that I'd heard much of them. I had to listen to a few of their songs to actually like them, and I guess it was too late, by the end of last year. Their music is wonderful, most of their lyrics are stories, all funny and with irony and sarcastic tone. "Hay Que Comer" is one of my favourite songs of them.
The boy I've been seeing since January made me listen to La Vela Puerca
. Well, he tried to get me into their music, but I also refused (I am so stubborn). Then I listened to one of their songs "open-minded-ly" with another friend ("Para No Verme Más") and as I was feeling blue at the moment, the song went just with my feelings. I got their last three albums and really enjoyed all of them ("A Contraluz", 2004, is my favourite one). He was pleased with my sudden like for the band, of course. My favourite song is "De Atar", among many others (they're all on the playlist at the bottom).
And the last one, No Te Va Gustar
, is the latest I started listening to, though I am kind of new at it, I've just listened to a few of their songs. The boy previously mentioned tried to make me like this band but I didn't, until one of my best friends made me listen to "Al vacío", song I really loved (the subtitle from this journal is taken from the song), and then I moved onto some of their songs, which I have to admit are quite good.
It took me a while to choose my favourite songs (and to upload them!) and finally selected twenty (couldn't shorten it!) and made a playlist with all these songs for you to check out if you're interested. I recommend all of them, they're worth a listen (by the way, I think it's a pretty obvious thing to mention, but they're all in Spanish).
